Babies are Spoil-Proof!

You Can't "Spoil" Your Baby!

  • Baby cries to communicate a need: diaper change, hunger, a warm cuddle.

  • Baby can't manipulate you because he does not yet understand cause and effect.

Responding to Baby

  • A parent's prompt response helps a baby feel more secure.

  • More secure babies develop an increased sense of self worth and more curiosity about the world,

  • When parents effectively respond to their crying baby in year one, that baby cries LESS in year two!

Postpartum Depression (PPD)

  • You have a busy life. Some days may seem overwhelming.Nevertheless,

  • 1in 7 women have PPD, a bio-chemical condition, not a personality weakness.

  • Taking more than 25 minutes to fall asleep is predictive of PPD.

  • Sometimes depression presents with anxiety causing panic attacks, racing thoughts & constant worry

  • If you have PPD, get help right away.

Breastfeeding Continues to Benefit Child Development

Breastfeeding mothers are better at reading infant feeding cues than are mothers who give formula.

  • Baby may now sleep 6 hours at night. If breasts become sore at night when baby sleeps longer, just hand express a little milk until your nighttime milk production slows down.

  • Expressing or pumping after AM feeding ensures adequate milk supply.
